What Is The Deep
Now Project?

The Deep Now Project takes a step back from the daily news cycle to ask a bigger question: what’s really going on right now? It looks beneath the surface of politics, markets, technology, and culture to show how today’s pressures are stacking up in dangerous ways. Thoughtful, readable, and grounded in real experience, the book invites readers to see the present moment clearly and consider what it will take to move forward together.

Globalization Contained

Handbook on International Political Economy

Lance’s most recent book, The Deep Now Project: A Personal Encounter with the 6 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, is about survival. Lance draws on his academic, business, and personal experiences to diagnose six interconnected forces that could end global civilization, and what we must do to survive the present moment.  It focuses on disastrous weapons on hair triggers, the world’s runaway free-market economy, extreme globalism versus extreme nationalism, dangerous social conflicts, small groups of people that shape our ideas, and a culture of modern science that overlooks many.

His book, Globalization Contained: The Economic and Strategic Consequences of the Container, is based on his PhD thesis.  It examines the significance of the freight container as a key catalyst behind the globalization phenomenon and an agent of change in global trade, economics, and security. Lance explores these far-reaching impacts, with a particular emphasis on the perspectives of the United States and China.

Lance was also a contributing author to the Handbook on International Political Economy. It explores political economy as an intricate discipline, not only from the fields of politics and economics but also from those as diverse as philosophy, history, and anthropology.
